Bio:Name: Ella Mae Carter

Age: 27

DOB: 6/23/82

Hometown: Savannah, Georgia

Physical Description:

Ella has brown hair and kind brown eyes. Her face is soft and her full lips are often crooked up in a small smile. She has a mole high on her right cheek and it’s kind of her signature mark. Ella is not petite, standing at 5’7” and is of average weight, but with definite curves to her hips. Ella is quite the fashionista, her look ranging anywhere from slightly bohemian with long flowy skirts or runway chic with the latest and greatest designer clothing. She prefers slightly sexier clothing to show off her curves.

Personality:

Ella is quite a flirtatious girl, a flirty smile ready for just about anyone. Ella is quite open and friendly with everyone, one of those types that never quite meets a stranger. Her life is but an open book for anyone who seems interested. Due to being so open and approachable, Ella tends to make friends quite easily. She trusts easily, often to her own detriment as she has to find out the hard way that not everyone is as nice and trustworthy as she is.

The last month or so has been quite difficult on Ella, making her more sullen and morose than usual. Her emotions are all over the place, one minute able to forget and be smiley and happy – while other times she is quiet and sulky, often with a frown or small pout on her face.

When in crisis mode, Ella tends to want to play the damsel in distress, freaking out for a good while before she finds her strength and fights head on. One thing about Ella is that she is unfailingly organized and has somewhat of an analytical mind. This often comes in handy because she has the ability to separate her emotions from what needs to be done. Once her small freak out has passed, Ella is all for making lists and figuring out what needs to be done in order to be helpful.

Ella is also a good listener and is often at the ready with words of comfort, encouragement or advice. She is a very empathetic listener and most people find her quite easy to talk to. It is, however, her job to listen to problems and offer her advice.

Sexuality: Mostly straight (what girl now a days hasn’t had a hook up or two with a friend?)

Passenger or Staff: Passenger

If Passenger:

Traveling With: Alone

Contest Entry: Involuntary (Sarah had entered her before their friendship ended)

Job: Author of a syndicated advice column by day, song writer/composer by night

History:

Ella was an only child born to Elena and Bill Carter and was very much the apple of their eye. They supported her when she started showing an affinity for music. They started her in piano lessons at age five and were amazed that she took to the piano as well as she did. They bought her a grand piano for her 12th birthday since she was becoming serious about music. Ever the doting parents, they made sure to attend each and every piano recital or performance that she had.

Ella kept studying music all through high school and turned into a music nerd, which was hell on her social status. She had the looks to be one of the popular girls, but she was all the time scribbling away and not really paying attention to the world around her. She was, however, good for relationship advice. Her peers used her lunchtime as their therapy time, often forming a line at her table to wait their turn to talk to her and ask her advice on their various problems. No one really cared that Ella didn’t have experience with boys or wasn’t one of the popular kids, they just wanted someone to talk to. After a year or two of that, Ella started writing an advice column in their school newspaper and fell in love with writing.

When it came to her senior year, Ella studied her music ferociously, determined to put on an amazing senior recital. It didn’t disappoint. Her school had talent scouts come watch her recital, which was half classical pieces and half her own original pieces, and they were blown away. Ella got offered a full scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).

Ella spent four blissful years in college and when she came out, she realized how much she missed writing. She started writing an advice column for her local newspaper and it got so popular that several newspapers wanted to pick it up as well. She finally quit the local newspaper after two years and started working for herself, writing these columns and shipping them out to newspapers and magazines all over the US.

Even though she was writing, Ella still pursued her music career. She was not at all confident in her singing abilities, but wrote songs and compositions for herself. She had a couple of songs that were sold to mainstream artists and was slowly breaking into the song writing market. Ella really missed performing, however, and found herself a local club that had an Unplugged night. She played the piano and tentatively sang, her voice low and unsure, however her piano playing was stellar as always.

At the club, she met a girl named Sarah and they quickly became friends. Over the next three years, their relationship evolved into being best friends. They shared a common love for music and Sarah had come up with the genius idea for them to form a band of sorts. Sarah had a beautiful voice and combined with Ella’s accomplished piano skills, they made quite the pair. A year into their friendship, Ella and Sarah were playing another Unplugged night at a different club and there she met Daniel. He was ruggedly handsome and treated her like a princess. They fell deeply in love and he eventually joined their band as a guitar player. A year and a half later, Daniel proposed to Ella and of course she said yes.

Two weeks before their wedding in December, Daniel, Ella and Sarah were playing a gig in Atlanta. It was almost time to go on stage and Ella couldn’t find Daniel or Sarah anywhere. After ignoring the gut wrenching feeling in her stomach, she finally found them in the bathroom, having sex in one of the stalls. She was crushed and mad as hell. She called her parents and they made arrangements to pick her up the next day and she found herself a hotel room for the night.

When she got back home, Daniel was less than apologetic and asked for the loft apartment that they shared. Ella was stunned, but far too upset to argue with him anymore. She and her parents packed her shit up and she was out of there and living back home. Luckily her parents had a pool house and they let her move in there so she would have some privacy.

Ella fell into a deep depression, crying uncontrollably on the day her wedding should have been. She was a wreck for weeks until she got a phone call that promised her a cruise o a tropical island and it sounded just like the thing that she needed in order to get over losing her fiancé and best friend in one evening. She almost didn’t go when she found out that Sarah was the one who entered her, but decided that she needed it right now and she would happily go.

Exception Skills/Abilities: Piano playing, writing and organization

Weaknesses:

1) Easy to Trust: One would think that after being burned in such an awful way that Ella would be less likely to trust people. Sadly that was far from the case. She is still quite naïve and trusts people entirely too easily. This often leads her to getting her heart broken and/or taken advantage of.

2) Empathetic: While this can be a strength for most people, it tends to be a weakness for Ella. She can get too involved in people’s problems and she tries to find solutions. When a solution isn’t readily available or accepted, it upsets Ella. She often feels people’s emotions strongly and when someone is hurting and crying, chances are Ella will be crying along with them.

3) Music: An odd weakness, yes, but a valid one. When Ella is lost in her world of music, a bomb could go off and Ella would pay it no attention. It is impossible to pull her out of her music when she is in a zone. Therefore, she tries to limit herself just a couple of hours a day. If during the week inspiration strokes and she needs a longer session, she will allow herself to give up Saturday or Sunday and lose herself in the music.

4) Arthritis: Due to the years of playing the piano and typing at her computer, Ella has bad arthritis in her hands and fingers. She takes an arthritis medication that will help loosen and lubricate her joints as well as control the pain. It has been advised that she quit playing the piano and typing at her computer, but since both are part of who Ella is, she cannot bare to do that.

Strengths:

1) Good listener: Ella has always been a good listener. She can feel when people are looking for advice/help or if they just need a friendly ear to vent to.

2) Organized: Ella is seriously organized. She has to be for all the music that she plays and writes. She has everything filed away except for the stuff she is currently working on. She is definitely a big fan of the list and has several lists around her small home.
